High seacliffs and black sand beaches in Porto da Cruz, Madeira’s northern coast #228055783
Description
Porto da Cruz is a small village nested in Madeiraââ¬â¢s rugged north coast, at the foot of the impressive coastal promontory named Penha da Aguia, or Eagleââ¬â¢s nest. The historical development of the parish was triggered by the development of sugarcane crops. Nowadays, sugarcane production is much reduced, although the villageââ¬â¢s economy and identity remains strongly linked to small-scale agriculture.
